Q Jobs
The Quality Show thrives to be a leader devoted to producing
quality content, both written and video, for college students,
young professionals, and even parents of future college students.
Our website is also a destination for all people, regardless
of age, who seek advice in the areas of law, career, cars, finance
or anything else that would increase the quality of life.
If you like what you see on our website and would like to be
a part of it, apply to join our team. Individuals across the
nation enjoy reading what you have to say and what better place
to promote your name, boost your experience, and showcase your
thoughts and writing style than right here at The Quality Show?
You do not have to be a professional journalist to contribute,
either. Most importantly, if you believe in what we are doing
and can effectively communicate your thoughts and ideas through
words then we have a place for you in our roster.
Interested? – Before proceeding – You must take
a look at our columnist position details listed below for more
information. You are required to read and agree to these terms
before applying:
Rules and Regulations
- Writing for us is a non-paying position and is strictly volunteer
work. Don't come to us expecting to make a living off the site.
We don't and you won't, either. Like us, you are contributing
due strictly to your love of writing and desire to share your
thoughts and writing style with a sizeable audience while attaining
crucial experience.
-
Applicants must be 18 years of age.
- We reserve the right to edit submitted content as needed or
not publish a particular article at all — in extremely
rare cases. All content submitted becomes property of The Quality
Show, with proper credit given to the authors. You must receive
permission before using published articles elsewhere, and re-published
articles must be published using the same form in which they
appear on The Quality Show, with credit given to the site and
original author. You agree to this by submitting your columnist
application.
-
You are required to submit an article at least once a month,
but you are encouraged to contribute more frequently.
Columnist Benefits and Perks
- Nationwide exposure to your work and name. Create a name
for yourself on the Internet as an established journalist. Use
this experience to aid you now and in the future. Experience
is valuable.
-
You will receive full credit for your story or article and
you will have the ability to receive feedback from readers.
-
You will have the opportunity to collaborate and share ideas with other columnists on the staff to improve your skills.
-
As a columnist, you get creative freedom. We don't force you
to write about one specific topic; write about any appropriate
topic you wish once you are on the staff.
Journalistic Guidelines and Tips
- When you write, be yourself. Don’t be afraid to use
informal writing or sarcasm occasionally and don’t be
afraid to submit an article due to the fact that you believe
it is politically incorrect. If your article has a valid point
then it will be published regardless of its political incorrectness.
This is called Free Speech and we believe in it.
-
Use good English and grammar skills. Visitors will judge you
on your writing style and abilities and no one wants to be looked
at as ignorant. You are representative of everyone on staff.
-
When you have an opinion about something, be sure to back
it up.
-
Provide a descriptive, but short and catchy title with your
articles. You could have the greatest article ever, but if it
is accompanied by a weak title, no one will be interested in
reading it.
-
Do not use first-person (I, me, myself, etc.) in article introductions.
Instead, make your introduction informational and enticing to
readers and 3-4 sentences in length. It is okay to use first-person
in your article body, however.
-
To maximize readability, break your work into paragraphs of
3-4 sentences. Avoid large chunks of text because it makes it
more difficult to read in an online format. Do not indent paragraphs
and leave an extra line-break between paragraphs when submitting
stories.
Article Topic Suggestions
- News analysis: Take a news story that will affect college
or post-college life and add your editorial perspective. Example:
Google plans to open a new call center in the Kannapolis, NC
area, how will this affect the job market, etc.
- College fashion: College students change clothing styles frequently.
If you predict an upcoming trend, know what’s hot and
what’s not, or just plain like writing about fashion,
this is the topic for you.
-
College team rivalries: Talk some trash in an area you feel
strongly about, just make sure to back it up.
-
Your experiences: If you have an experience that changed your
life for the better whether it is financial, career, job, or
moral based, you are welcome to write about it here.
-
College advice: If you have financial, internship, studying,
career, interview, or any other advice that you feel fits the
overall objective of The Quality Show, write about it and we
will publish it.
-
The past: Do the events of many years ago grab your interest?
Share your memories and experiences or profile a legend. Example:
Do a profile on Donald Trump, researching the moves he made
towards his ultimate success.
-
Anything goes: If it's about college, success, or if it fits
the overall objective of The Quality Show and is written well,
chances are, we will publish it. Write about what moves you
and you have passion for.
Finally
Last, but not least, remember to have fun! We want you to enjoy
what you are doing. If you don't, your work won't be as good
as it could be.
Write an article. There is no limit to size,
use your own judgment. Use this to best showcase your skills.
Make sure to break it up into paragraphs and use proper grammar
and punctuation. Email it to
jobs@theQshow.com . Include
any previous experience, age, location, topic preference, education
and occupation.
Remember that not everyone who applies gets the position. Because
of the tremendous interest, we can't contact everyone who applies,
but if you are accepted, you will receive an e-mail from us
within a week in most cases. Prove yourself as best as possible
by showcasing your writing style to the best of your ability.
Use proper grammar and punctuation and don't be sloppy.
